It&#8217;s stitched over-one on 35-count linen. The finished size is about 2.75&#8243; by 4.5&#8243; (which would be 5.5&#8242; by 9&#8242; if it were life-sized). This design comes from a <a href=\"http:\/\/dancingvioletdesigns3.homestead.com\/Miniatures.html\" target=\"new\">free pattern<\/a> that I found online.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/2010\/red-blue-rug.jpg\" style=\"margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px\"><\/p>\n<p>Here it is in the Fairfield&#8217;s dining room (which I&#8217;m thinking of turning into a music room&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/2010\/red-blue-rug2.jpg\" style=\"margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px\"><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also been working on filling up the Fairfield&#8217;s bookcase. I&#8217;m using a technique that I wrote up for Miniature Collector a few years ago. That article is <a href=\"\/writing\/samples\/miniaturizingprints.pdf\" target=\"new\">archived here<\/a> if you&#8217;d like to try it yourself (posted with permission from <a href=\"http:\/\/scottpublications.com\/mcmag\/index.shtml\" target=\"new\">Scott Publications<\/a>). Once the book covers are scanned, assembling them is an easy project that can be done while watching television. (Lately <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0006GAO18?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=thedenofslack-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=B0006GAO18\">Wonderfalls<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=thedenofslack-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B0006GAO18\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> has been my diversion of choice.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/2010\/halfscale-books.jpg\" style=\"margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px\"><\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, I&#8217;ve written a how-to article for building <a href=\"\/blog\/?p=587\" target=\"new\">half scale ladderback chairs<\/a> that will appear in the April issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanminiaturist.com\/amn_mag.asp\" target=\"new\">American Miniaturist<\/a>. So if you&#8217;d like to learn how to make them, that&#8217;s where to look!
