That’s why I love participating in the Half Scale Yahoo Group‘s annual swap — I end up with dozens of accessories that I theoretically could have made myself, but never would. I just found homes for some of the items from this year’s swap and they look so good I was inspired to post pics.

The swap theme was shabby chic, which I’m not a huge fan of, but I guess my pastel puzzle house fits the bill. Up in the bedroom, this tray, vase with flower, and perfume jars came from the swap.

This little trunk looks nice in the nursery (which I should really get around to finishing one of these days…) The rug was from last year’s swap.

Heading downstairs, hutch in the kitchen off eBay a few years ago and it’s been empty ever since. The two gray cups, tea box, and cookbook came from the swap. The goblets are wood turnings I got at an estate sale. The bread box (which I may end up painting) is part of a Warwick Miniatures kitchen set that recently I got at a mini flea-market for a whopping $0.25. (I’m using some of the other items from the set in other kitchens.)

This cabinet in the living room is another recent eBay purchase. The jug on the top was from this year’s swap, and the candle sticks on the middle shelf from last year’s.

On the other side of the room, the triangular table, wall-hanging box, and lamp came from this year’s swap. The bundle of letters on the desk was from last year’s. I made the plant myself, and the book came with an eBay furniture purchase.

Moving on to the Rosedale, I recently got some more pots and pans to add to the hanging pot rack I built. In the background you can see a set of the kitchen canisters I made for this year’s swap. Over the fridge, that metal bowl is another piece from the $0.25 Warwick Miniatures set.

Lotion bottles and a bar of soap work well on the Rosedale’s bathroom vanity.

In the Fairfield, a plate of cookies from this year’s swap makes a good addition to the tween’s bedroom along with the doll, Gone with the Wind, and suitcase from last year’s.

The vase with yellow flowers looks good on the mantel. I should really add a painting over the fireplace. (Come to think of it, I have some from last year’s swap that I never found a home for…) I also need to make more books for the bookshelf, but that’s one of those things that never seems to take priority…

And in the master bedroom, some more lotion bottles and an alarm clock.

These may be little things (literally!) but they add so much character to the rooms. Thank you to everyone who participated in the swap.
